Meet Dr. Kwon
Pediatric Dentist: John H. Kwon, DMD
Not every child enjoys visiting the dentist. With a “princess” daughter of his own and an adventurous son with boundless energy, Dr. John understands the challenges many parents face when it comes to their child’s oral hygiene. It was only natural that Dr. John decided to combine his desire to create a positive dental experience for children with his passion for dentistry.
Dr. John received his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where he graduated with Honors in Clinical Restorative Dentistry. Dr. John was awarded the Henry B. Robinson Award in Restorative Dentistry for graduating with the highest proficiency in clinical dentistry, and he was selected for induction into the prestigious National Dental Honor Society – Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
During his two-year, post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric dentistry and advanced hospital training at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dr. John recognized the vast differences in treating children from infancy through adolescence. This experience taught him to embrace the uniqueness of each child, while partnering with families on their dental journey. Dr. John has extensive clinical experience managing dental trauma and emergencies, sedation dentistry, interceptive orthodontics, treating medically complex patients and children with severe disabilities that require advanced treatment planning and techniques.
Prior to dentistry, Dr. John committed himself to advancing the development of life-saving therapies for hemophilia and Von Willebrand Disease patients while working at a biotech company.
Dr. John is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He loves bringing smiles to children and makes his patient’s oral health care his top priority. In his spare time, he enjoys being a “foodie”, playing golf, running, and spending time with his family.
